The 16th annual Undergraduate Scholars Research Conference (USRC) will be held on Friday February 22, 2019, immediately before the start of the annual WSCA convention in Seattle, WA. I hope that you will encourage your students to submit their work to the conference. This year, we are piloting a new program to also accept short film submissions (see below).

The USRC provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to submit and potentially present their scholarship. The USRC seeks a diverse range of philosophical, methodological, epistemological, and theoretical work. Students will receive feedback from scholars in the field, will get to showcase their work to their peer and mentors, and will get to engage with other undergraduate students from programs across the West. There will also be some excellent opportunities to interface with graduate program directors during both the graduate school panel and open house. Of course, the program is truly enhanced by a diverse range of student submissions. Therefore, I encourage you to invite your students to submit to the USRC.

The full call for submissions can be viewed here: http://tiny.cc/USRC. Please feel free to distribute that call to your students. The USRC will accept papers no longer than 25 pages in length or short films (less than 10 minutes in length, including all credits). To be eligible to submit, student authors or filmmakers must be undergraduate students at the time of submission and cannot be graduate students before February 22, 2019. All submissions will use the new WSCA online paper submission system. Detailed submission preparation instructions are available by viewing the call. The deadline to submit is December 1, 2018 by 11:59pm Pacific Time. Authors will be notified of their submission status by early January 2019.

The registration fee for the USRC is $15 for those who are presenting, which includes  complimentary registration for the rest of the WSCA Convention.

Finally, I am looking for paper and film reviewers. If you are interested in reviewing a few submissions for the conference, please fill out this information form: http://tiny.cc/usrc-review (PhD students are encouraged to sign up as reviewers!). If you or your students have any questions, please feel free to send me an e-mail.

I am excited to see all the incredible work by these talented undergraduate students and I hope that you will join us at the USRC in February.
