The Organization for Research on Women and Communication (ORWAC) promotes dialogue, discussion, research, and scholarship concerned with women, feminism, gender, oppression, and social change.  ORWAC is a WSCA affiliate, publishes the journal Women's Studies in Communication, and sponsors programs at the WSCA Convention.

At the 2006 WSCA convention in Palm Springs, the ORWAC Feminist Scholarship Award went to Monique A. Myers and Mary Jane Collier, for their article in Women’s Studies in Communication, entitled “Cultural Ascriptions Displayed by Restraining Order Court Representatives: Implicating Patriarchy and Cultural Dominance.”

The Top Student Paper went to Kristy Maddux, for her paper entitled, “Winning the Right to Vote in 2004: Iron Jawed Angels Retrospective Framing and the Woman Suffrage Movement.”
