WSCA 2017 Local Host Activities

While in Salt Lake City for the Western States Communication Association Conference in February, there are a variety of activities for visitors to experience. These activities include pre-planned reservations, events that require tickets, and inexpensive outings which allow conference attendees to experience the culture of the city. While there are a number of fun and exciting local events planned, the events listed here are easily accessible via public transportation or centrally located downtown. We invite all visitors coming into town for the conference to enjoy the opportunities these events present.

Downtown Activities, within walking distance or the free fare zone:

      The Spoken Word: Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, free, no ticket required. Doors open at Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m., guests should be seated by 9:15 a.m. For more information, go to https://www.mormontabernaclechoir.org/events/music-and-the-spoken-word.html

      Clark Planetarium: entry is free with several exhibits around the facility, as well as various shows which require a ticket. For more information, go to http://clarkplanetarium.org/

      The Leonardo: Adult general admission ticket is $12.95 and will provide access to all of the main exhibits. For more information, go to http://www.theleonardo.org/

      The Salt Lake City Main Library: There are a variety of events, shops, and activities that go on for free or at very low prices, including historical discussions, concerts, festivals, and art exhibitions.       Remember that Trax may be the best option for avoiding parking. It runs every 15 minutes and has stations right in front of Rice Eccles stadium and The Huntsman Center.
