Salt Lake City, Utah has a variety of options for activities and fun accommodations for visitors to enjoy during their stay. SLC includes everything from educational opportunities to lively nightlife, and everything in between. February in SLC provides the option for fun winter activities, and all the other year-round options for guests to enjoy.
Because it is winter, SLC averages about 40 degrees daily, with some snow and precipitation, and residents value the beautiful snow-covered mountains surrounding the city where visitors will experience skiing unlike anywhere else. If you aren’t willing to go up the mountain for this, there are many other options, including researching your family history, riding a “Greenbike” downtown to explore the big city, a visit to Temple Square, lots of shopping at City Creek Center, The Natural History Museum, or Squatters Pub Brewery -- it’s all here.
Also, did we mention we have some great food? You can dine somewhere as fancy as Ruth’s Chris, or keep it traditional with the Red Iguana or Cheesecake Factory.
Although SLC has been considered the “Mormon capital” of the US, there are plenty of things available for non-members as well as members of the LDS church. For example, off of Highland drive the Wasatch Brewery can be found. There you will be able to get a taste of Utah’s brews by trying some of our local beer while also being able to grab a bite to eat with friends, colleagues, and family.
For those who are sports fans, SLC is home of the Utah Utes basketball. Going 26-8 in last year’s season, with the help of many of this year’s rookies, the Utes are hoping to have another strong season. They will be playing at Oregon State on Sunday February 19th, but don’t let the away game fool you! Home or away, at any sports bar around town you will be able to find many fans cheering their Utes onto another victory.
Whether you are looking to be a tourist for the weekend under the city lights, or wanting to shred some powder in the great Utah Alps, SLC has everything you are looking for in a great weekend getaway!
