**This is a three-part "special issue" on the new database that WSCA is now using. Each of the three articles posted here in succession will address a different component of the new system**

In previous WSCA News articles, I explained, in detail, the new and exciting changes in the WSCA database. While converting to it, I had to extract the 581 current 2015 members from the old system to move them to the new system. Because I’m curious, I wanted to know how many people are in each interest group. Here are the exciting conclusion, plus or minus a couple of people (some folks have already been updating their profile).
Language and Social Interaction = 46
Environmental Communication = 25
Communication & Instruction = 111
Western Forensics and Argumentation = 26
Communication Theory and Research = 102
Freedom of Expression and Legal Communication = 26
Health Communication = 41
Performance Studies = 53
Community College = 66
Organizational Communication = 65
Rhetoric and Public Address = 123
Intercultural Communication = 88
Media Studies = 101
Interpersonal Communication = 103
While examining this I noticed that 216 members have not selected any affiliations. This, of course, does not include Departmental Members since they don’t have affiliations. For interest group officers, this may be your time to recruit members to your group. This may answer some questions on why it may be difficult to obtain future officers and why your business meetings may have low attendance.
Remember, members are no longer limited to the number of interest groups they may join. Feel free to go to the website, log on, and update your profile to include the interest group of your desire.
