2006 CONVENTION INFORMATION

WSCA 2006 Palm Springs will be held February 18-21, 2006 at the Riviera Resort & Racquet Club in Palm Springs, California.

The 2006 conference theme of “Cherishing (Our) Time (Together)” encourages us to recognize the importance of time and how we use our time as scholars, teachers, and humans. It invites us to value our WSCA family and scholarly community and to reflect on ways to extend the civic and social justice dimensions of our research and teaching activities. The theme encourages us to work from within multiple viewpoints and perspectives to think about how we spend our time as teachers, scholars, and citizens, friends, partners, and family members, and to envision and take steps toward futures characterized by humane commitments and social and environmental justice. The theme also recognizes that part of what historically has made WSCA such a special scholarly community is our sense that we are a “family” of caring, compassionate scholars deeply committed to using our time and intellectual resources to encourage all voices and welcome multiple perspectives. The theme honors the power of communication and our potential to use our temporal and intellectual resources as teachers and scholars to be positive forces for changes in our world.
