The Legislative Assembly consists of the chair and vice-chair of each interest group (or designees), two representatives of each association that holds an organizational membership in the Association, ten delegates at large (five elected each year to serve for two years), and one member from each educational institution with five or more Association members.

The Legislative Assembly is the Association's principal policy-making body and approves the annual budget. The second vice-president is the speaker of the Legislative Assembly and reports the actions of the Executive Council to the Legislative Assembly.
